just remove clientregistry.blob or appupdatestats.blob in your steam folder and start steam again… those files will be created by itself next time when you start steam…

Instead, it will acquire new updates in the background and then (once they’re downloaded) ask if you’d like to restart & apply them. Steam will also let you know what’s new whenever a new update is ready to apply.

Steam is running but i can’t see it. Maybe you have something with this ‘hidden window’jack. I’m running AVG antivirus/firewall but i’m sure it’s not that. It’s not affected many people as servers for CS are full as normal. I neeeeeeed my CS back… it’s like losing an arm!

yea do a clean boot of windows, so disable all the nonsense and shit that boots up my goin into msconfig, and jsut do a clean boot and once rebooted start steam up should work fine

you need to right click on the game your trying to play >
create desktop shortcut
Right click the shortcut
Click propterties
In the command line > click the end of it
- thats the top line thats highlighted in blue, Just click somewhere on it and add at the end >
ADD THIS TO THE END OF IT

-window
and then go apply and OK
then load up the game you are waiting to play, Then go to options and click on ” Resoultion ” and put it at 800 x 600, it will now be in a window… and your game wont crash…

run this Fixwareout program, fixed mine. found it on a hijackthis help site. my steam came up the moment i logged in, asked for me to enter username/pw and loaded up. i tried uninstalling, ctrl.alt.del and ending the process then restarting, i was about to wipe my drive and start over like alot of others have but made on last google and got this article. anyway, hope it fixes yours.
Fixwareout.exe Link removed by admin. After analysing this file it looked pretty suspicious, could be a virus or trojan. I am however not entirely certain. If you really want it search for the name and maybe you will find it elsewhere.
i was having all the same issuses, hidden window, etc but it works now yay!

ThreadMaster is a program that controls your cpu usage and conflicts with steam causing this error. Maybe there is something blocking steams control of the cpu?

I play css and I get mutex,debug shows the wrong symbols for this app: file:\p4clients\rel_beta\projects\common\misc\limitsingleAppInstance.qop or 90p line 126. check symfix.retry and it will not boot. some crap about the bootstrap. ok so heres how to fix it
go to start hit run
type mscofig and hit enter
go to services and uncheck and winstyle or tuneup style apps
restart and your all good

ok…ive had this problem for a while now..ive reinstalled it and did everything but nuting seemed to wrk.
i thnk i have a solution though
if you have installed “tuneup utilities”(bad spelling :P)latley dats probabley the problem i unstalledf it and it wrks fine now.

So is there no way to run Steam alongside tuneup utilities? I actually use tuneup util. for themes and maintainence etc. so it would be a real pain in the ass to have to do a clean reboot without my themes etc each time I want to play steam…Any help would be great.

you all shouldn’t have this problem, if you guys running peerguardian, try and disable that first and see if it works, works fine by me, or you could add those IP which has been blocked, the are normally listed as Limelight Networks, or Value Corporations.
